CURRENCY

Currency of the country is the Sri Lanka Rupee (LKR). One hundred cents make one Rupee. Currency notes come in denominations of 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000. The coins come in denominations of Rupees 1, 2, 5, 10 and cents 1, 2, 5,10, 25, 50.

CREDIT CARDS

Major Credit Cards such as Visa, Master Card, American Express are accepted in most hotels, restaurant and shopping areas. However, it is advised to carry a suitable amount of local currency for incidental expenses as some of the smaller shops and restaurants, especially out of the cities may not have the facility to accept credit cards.

ATM’ s are available throughout major cities and towns throughout the country and money can be withdrawn from them using international credit cards od debit cards

BANKS

The working hours of Banks are from 0900 hrs to 1300 hours thjrough Monday to Friday. Some city banks close at 1500 hrs, Some are open on Saturday mornings as well. I
